Summer Healthcare Academy

Originally launched as the Summer Nursing Academy in 2024, the program expanded in 2025 to include pathways for health sciences and health policy and management majors, broadening opportunities across disciplines. Students participated in internships, field experiences, and mentored research.

Our Lady of Lourdes Pilgrimage

In May, five undergraduate nursing students embarked on a 10-day pilgrimage to France, immersing themselves in the Dominican tradition and Catholic social teaching. Guided by Sister Mary Cecilia, O.P., Dr. Nancy Meedzan, Dr. Amy Delaney, and accompanied by Rev. John Vidmar, O.P., the group visited key sites including Toulouse, Fanjeaux, Prouilhe, and Lourdes.

Alongside these historic experiences, students also served with the Little Sisters of the Poor in St. Pern and Paris, encountering aging and ill populations with compassion and respect. The pilgrimage invited students to reflect on the intersection of faith, healing, and human dignity—core to their formation as nurses.
