Unique to PC

Whether you major in nursing, health sciences, or health policy and management, you are a PC student first, fully engaged in all PC has to offer. Our students lead clubs, play sports, a make meaningful connections that last a lifetime. What makes the SNHS programs distinctive is what makes PC distinctive – its grounding in the breadth of the liberal arts and its foundations in the Catholic and Dominican traditions.

At the heart of PC’s educational experience is the Development of Western Civilization program. Students explore human history through many perspectives — from literature to philosophy to theology to art, and more — from professors who nurture interdisciplinary thinking and relish collaborative teaching. They provided this signature distinction of a Providence College education to students in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences alongside their classmates from all other majors.

The SNHS programs are built on this liberal arts core, with a holistic vision of the development and moral formation of students who experience the art and science of caregiving through nursing and healthcare. It inspires visionaries and advances our understanding of healthcare practices.

Students are also encouraged to participate in the renowned PC Honors program, where the highest academic achievers are engaged in the pursuit of rigorous scholarship.
